Summer Chamber Studies at KSU

June 20-29, 2008

The Summer Chamber Studies is a 10-day summer program for children with musical aptitude who want the opportunity to study with outstanding teachers and with student musicians who have the same desire to excel.  The program is open to string, collaborative piano, percussion, and voice students from beginners to advanced, ages 10 to 18.  Participants are expected to be motivated, disciplined, and comfortable with a significant amount of independence.

The Summer Chamber Studies aims to provide the highest quality musical experience in a rich environment.  Activities are specifically designed to teach individual and group performance techniques that challenge each student to achieve his or her highest level of musicianship.  Students are expected to attend concerts and masterclasses and participate in student performance activities.  The individual student’s experience will reflect the energy, desire, and self discipline brought to the program.

Students will participate in private lessons, technique classes, small chamber ensembles, masterclasses, theory and movement classes taught by the world-class La Catrina Quartet.  By recognizing the unlimited potential in each child, the members of the quartet aim to challenge each student to perform at his or her highest level of ability.  By working individually with each student the teachers are able to recognize each performer’s individual talents and encourage development through a variety of approaches to musical accomplishment.

Please make sure you visit this web page often for updates and further calendar information as the date for the program approaches.
